Last month, I talked about the problems of the Philippine education system and how it negatively affects the children (https://www.filipino-orphans.org/blog/back-to-school/). In this post, I would like to highlight one of the ways The Philippine Orphanage Foundation sought to alleviate some of these problems to build a brighter future for our orphans—the Manaoag Christian Children’s Home School.
Here’s a picture of the beginning of the construction phase of the schoolhouse.
This school was built for the Manaoag Christian Children’s Home (MCCH). MCCH was the very first orphanage we built and supported. It is overseen and shepherded by Pastor Phil Frasier (President of MCCH) and his wife Mrs. Rachel Frasier (Director). Since the orphanage was built in 2015, school-age orphans attended a local public school. However, we felt that we could provide the children with more. Thus, the MCCH school was built in May/June 2021 to provide the children with a Christian education alternative to the public school system. It took only 2 months to make the schoolhouse. Construction was finished after the COVID pandemic so once the new school year began, the orphans were able to attend their new school!

The children are given a Christian-based education in a smaller classroom environment. This allows them to have more 1:1 time with the teachers, so they can excel in their studies at a carefully tailored pace. This also allows their education to be in line with what they are learning in the church. Their education is primarily based on the Bible rather than secular studies. The MCCH school gives the children a greater chance to thrive not only in academics but also in their spiritual lives, preparing them to be tomorrow’s leaders for God’s church.
