It All Started With A Piece of Land
Actually, it all started well before that. Formed in December 2010, the Philippines Orphanage Foundation was originally just a dream, an idea and somewhat of a passion. But it slowly grew into a reality when we were told a piece of land in the Philippines was being made available to us to lease for $1.00 per year. Yup, the decimal is in the correct position. Just a dollar. Where do we sign?
What Will It Look Like??
Thankfully we knew a General Contractor in the Philippines willing to work with us. It wasn’t long before he put together a few drawings and this dream of helping orphans was getting real! We loved the idea of a family style home, rather than a dormatory layout. It meant we couldn’t take in as many kids as we wanted to but we knew this was just the beginning. A smaller home is a great way to “learn the ropes” of taking care of orphans in the Philippines.
How Would We Pay For It??
We really mean this – God moved on the hearts of many people who faithfully gave until we had enough to build and finish our first orphanage. We’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way, made mistakes along the way, met some of the greatest people along the way, and learned to trust that if this was really a calling from the Lord, then He would provide every step of the way….and He has. And below is the result of His faithfulness!
